They have more than 14,000 wines in their collection, and they decided to have a dedicated wine room for their prized wines. In addition, they also built the wine cellar for fun and enjoyment. We had to create a design that would accommodate a large number of bottles and complement the existing décor of the modern home.   

The wine room, which we had to build inside a complex industrial building, is referred to as “the man cave.” It is located right beside the dining and wine tasting area where guests can enjoy the wide screen TV while sitting in the stylish and comfy chairs.  

Adjacent to the wine tasting area is a space for the clients’ lavish car collection. The luxurious cars and chandeliers will stun anyone who enters the place.  

Custom Wine Rack Features That Add Visual Appeal to the Wine Cellar  

The decision of the clients to add a custom home wine cellar near the entertainment area was a smart idea. One advantage of having a wine room in your home is easy access to the wines. It will be convenient for the owners when they host wine tasting parties. Besides, the climate-controlled wine cellar will keep the wines safe for many years to come. It allows the wines to reach their peak maturation before they are ready for consumption.

When creating a wine room design, we, at Wine Cellar Specialists, use our passion and expertise to exceed our clients’ expectations. For this particular project, we designed the wine racks to accommodate the massive collection and enhance the beauty of the space. To maximize the space, we combined various racking configurations.  

Wine Rack Design on the Back Wall with Impressive Waterfall Displays  

When you enter the elegant custom home wine cellar in Naples, Florida, you will be greeted by the captivating waterfall wine displays that go down from the back wall to the center of the room. We installed three units of waterfall wine racks placed side by side, facing the entryway. The waterfall wine rack in the middle is the longest. 

The waterfall wine racks end with a tabletop that provides a space for decanting and tasting wines, and for storing a few more bottles. Below the tabletops are tier half-round wine racks with three shelves.  

We also included high reveal display rows and wooden case storage bins on both sides of each waterfall wine rack.  The display rows pitch the bottles at an angle, keeping the cork in contact with the wine.

When the cork dries out, it becomes brittle and decreases in size, allowing an unwanted amount of oxygen to enter the bottle. When this happens, the wine will be oxidized and have off flavors. The wooden case storage is ideal for storing wines in bulk and allows for better wine organization.  

In between each waterfall wine rack, we added an arch with a tabletop. Other racking styles we included on the back wall are individual wine racks, diamond bins, display rows, and horizontal display racks for large format bottles.

Wine Racks on the Left and Right Walls 

The left wall consists mostly of horizontal display rows at the top section. We included diamond bins and case storage at the bottom. A display row lines the middle section of the left wall. The racking has a solid top to provide additional storage space for more bottles.  

It ends with a quarter round display wine rack where the owners can display a few bottles vertically, and other accessories like decanters, wine glasses, and a lot more. We installed the same wine racks on the right wall except for the wooden case storage.  

Other Functional Features of the Custom Home Wine Cellar Built in a Naples, Florida 

One of our goals in designing wine rooms is to provide easy access to the wines. For this custom home wine cellar project in Naples, Florida, we added a hook ladder so that the clients will be able to access the wines stored beyond reach. It can be removed from the ladder rail and transferred to another wall with ease. 

The door is another essential component in designing wine cellars. Wine Cellar Specialists uses only exterior grade doors and chooses a design that is perfect for the client’s requirements.  

We used glass for the door and walls and wood for the frame. We insulated the glass panels and equipped the door with sealing components to help achieve the perfect wine storage conditions in the cellar. Insulating the door will keep the cool air in the wine room and prevents the warm air from entering.  

An improper insulation or the lack of insulation will result in condensation, which can trigger mold growth. It will also force the wine cooling system to work hard, resulting in the breakdown of the equipment and higher energy consumption.
